— About —

Life happens
in a blink.

Sally Bol
Photographer
Old Town Alexandria, VA
One day I woke up and my son was in his teens.
I wanted to cozy up with my morning coffee and flip through photographs to reminisce, but I had nothing. Instead of pulling out a curated album that held our precious memories, I was left anxious, endlessly scrolling through my phone. Hoping to find something that would remind me he was once smaller than me!
Even the professional photographs we'd taken had become lost between blurry every day snaps and recipe screenshots. I wish I had documented those memories over the years and preserved them the way they deserved to be.
As our little ones become not so little, they outgrow their childhood clothes and bedrooms. We only have so much time with them at each stage of their life. I don't ever want another parent to wake up and realize they have no memories to hug close.
Seize the opportunity to capture the memory-worthy moments that are ushered in with each new season of life.
Learn from me.
— A parallel —

What do photography and ballet have in common?

More than you would think…
23 years of ballet left me with stick-straight posture and the ability to bend at odd angles to get the perfect shot — but most importantly, it taught me that life is full of expression and beauty. When I became a photographer, I gained another way to ground myself in the little, beautiful moments. The ones that are so special, even if we don't realize it at the time.
Let's uncover and cherish the everyday beauty in your life. The sun sparkling in your eyes or the soft breeze that flutters your dress or the way you hold the ones you love. It's happening all around you.
— What guides me —

Three words I work by.

01

Simple Elegance

A poised image, free of clutter. Where the moment can breathe and the love does the talking.
02

Graceful Stoicism

The strength inside softness. Poise that says I'm here, and I know who I am.
03

Peaceful Strength

Serenity in the frame, even when life feels anything but. A still that holds the whole story.
— My why —

This is my selfish endeavor
to uncover all of the beauty around me.

There is beauty and joy everywhere we go. I want to capture it. You are beautiful — let me show you.
— The Letter —
